The 53-foot long Fontaine hydraulic low-boy flat-bed trailer is still missing.
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Authorities have recovered one stolen trailer in Port Charlotte, but are still looking for a semi-truck and trailer that were recently reported stolen.
The Sheriff’s Office took two separate reports Monday of thefts of semi-trailers and a semi-truck that had been parked only a few blocks away from each other.
At about 10:00 am Monday, the theft of a black 53-foot long Fontaine Hydraulic trailer was reported to deputies in the Enterprise Drive area of Port Charlotte. There was no tag on the trailer, but it had “TH55” in white lettering on the neck of the trailer. The victim reported that someone had cut the fence on the property at about 3:30 that morning, hooked up the trailer to a semi-truck and driven away with the trailer.
About an hour later, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man who reported that his Kenworth truck and a 43-foot long white refrigerator trailer had been taken from area of U.S. 41 and Como Street. The man said he had not been feeling well and left the truck along the shoulder of the roadway. The truck and trailer were there on Sunday October 13, but they were gone by Monday morning.
That truck is described as a burgundy 2003 Kenworth sleeper semi-truck with yellow lettering that said “Degeriane Transport” on it and Florida tag number F2996K. It was pulling a 43 foot white refrigerator trailer with Florida tag.
Deputies suspect that the semi-truck seen in a video taking the trailer from the Enterprise Drive scene may have been the same one reported stolen from the Como Street location.
Shortly before 2 Tuesday, a deputy located the stolen white refrigerated trailer in the area of Dexter Street and Abbott Avenue, only a few blocks away from where it had been originally parked.
Anyone with information concerning either of these thefts is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
