Halloween is upon us and our kiddies can’t wait to show off their costumes and enjoy way too many holiday treats.  But when the day is over they’ll most likely be treating us to some spook-tacular stains.

Fear not! Here are simple tricks to treat the most common of them!

Face Paint

  • Use a product that contains oil to break it down quickly and not dry/damage skin.
  • Rub gently with baby oil on a cotton ball and work in circular motions.
  • Baby wipes, old cream and body balm will also work.

Baby oil will also remove temporary tattoos!

Lipstick (as with all stains try to treat stains pronto for best results!)

  • Douse stain with aerosol hairspray
  • Let sit for a few minutes
  • Dab with clean cloth or paper towels until most of it disappears
  • Launder par usual

Fake Blood

  • Lather on foam NOT GEL shaving cream and gently rub or use a toothbrush to work out stain
  • Rinse with warm water
  • The foam stops the dye from seeping into your skin

Candle Wax

  • Scrape off excess wax.
  • Place in freezer ‘til hardens
  • Scrape off remaining
  • Alternatively:
    • Cover with clean cloth
    • Place iron on warm setting over wax until melts and moves to cloth

  • Soak stain in enough milk to cover it
    • The Fat in milk breaks down the stain s
  • Soak for at least 30 minutes to allow milk to absorb the molecules and the red will disappear
  • Launder par usual

This will also work on chocolate stains

  • Lick J or scrape off as much as you can without spreading it
  • Make a paste of unseasoned meat tenderizer and water and apply to stain
    • Meat tenderizer contains enzymes which you need when treating protein-based stains like these
  • Let sit for an hour
  • Use a toothbrush to brush away paste
  • Launder par usual

Spraying stain with either Hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar will also work. Test on an inconspicuous area first to insure it doesn’t take out color.
