SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota Police have announced the results of an 18-month investigation into drug dealing and trafficking in Sarasota that has resulted in the recovery of 12 kilos of cocaine.
10 arrests were made, five vehicles were seized, $115,000 in cash was seized, and cocaine with a street value of $500,000 was recovered.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, "Operation Sarasota Cartel II" began in August 2012 and ran through January 2014.
“Those who we arrested are major drug suppliers and dealers in the drug trade. We’ve arrested 10 people who are major distributors and drug traffickers in our area. This is one of the most significant investigations ever done by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Division within the City of Sarasota,” said Lt. James Rieser, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Sarasota Police Department.

Alex Hernando Gomez, age 46, charged with: Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine over 400 grams
Kewarren Lamar Jones, age 43, charged with: Traffic in Cocaine - 2 counts, Sale of Crack Cocaine
Reginald Eugene Brown, age 36, charged with: Sale of Crack Cocaine within 1,000 feet of Public Housing, Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell
Shane Kendall Phillips Austin, age 28, charged with: Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine
Reginald Maurice Williams, age 38, charged with: Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine
Demond Williams, age 40, charged with: Sale of Crack Cocaine within 1,000 feet of a Public Park
