SARASOTA - A couple reportedly tried to rob a man in a wheelchair as he was leaving a Sarasota drug store Monday night, and got caught by surveillance cameras in the process.

It happened just after midnight at the Walgreens on Bee Ridge Road at Beneva Road. According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, a man and a woman approached the victim and asked to buy his prescriptions. He told them he only bought some over-the-counter allergy medicine.

As the victim got into his vehicle, the man tried to take a satchel that was around the victim's neck. When he couldn't get it, the suspect punched the victim several times in the face and took off.

If you recognize the couple in the photos, you’re asked to call Sarasota County Crime Stoppers at 366-TIPS.
