Suspect in Sarasota murder case sentenced to 30 years in prison

Sarasota, FL- Kevin Peterson, 19, charged with murder, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday.  This case is one the Sarasota Police Department has been actively working for five months.

During open court, the father of Jovonne Corn, thanked the Sarasota Police Department their hard work on this case.

On March 14, 2013, Sarasota Police officers found the body of Jovonne Corn in a field behind the Boys and Girls Club in the 1800 block of 19th street, Sarasota.

“We are happy with the outcome of this case.  It keeps a dangerous criminal off the streets and it helps bring closure to the family of the Jovonne Corn,” said Lt. Pat Ledwith, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Sarasota Police Department.
