Suspect in custody in fatal hit and run Sunday

SARASOTA COUNTY – Sheriff’s detectives say they have a suspect in custody they believe is responsible for a hit and run death early Sunday morning.

The victim's body was found around 12:45am in the 200 block of Oakford Road, off Fruitville Road in eastern Sarasota County.

They say the man died of a head wound after someone struck him with a car.

They believe they have found the car, and the person they who was allegedly behind the wheel.

No names have been released yet.

Florida Highway Patrol and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office are investigating.

    drunks and prescription druggies rule the roads here in florida. i know because i dodge them daily on my motorcycle. the police MUST start doing their jobs to make our roadways SAFE.... here's a suggestion; leave consenting adults IN THE PRIVACY OF THEIR OWN HOMES, ALONE and use those resources to monitor the roads. sounds crazy doesn't it?....
