BRADENTON, Fla. – Parents and residents concerned over the possible sale of school land to developers will have their chance to speak out tonight.

The Manatee County School District is considering an offer from a Tampa-based developer to buy property next to Miller Elementary School known as McKelvey Park for $1.8 million.

The sale is under consideration to help with the district’s budget deficit.

Superintendent Rick Mills will meet with parents and local residents concerned with the sale at 6pm Tuesday at the school, located on 43rd Street West off Manatee Avenue.

The school district has also announced a spending freeze in its continuing efforts to put its financial house in order.

The freeze started Monday, and runs through June 30th.
