SARASOTA COUNTY, FL- Sarasota County Road Conditions: As of this morning, there are no current road closures in Sarasota County due to flooding and the ones closed last night are reopened.
However, low lying areas or those normally prone to flooding could still experience standing water, or additional downpours could create new problems so please continue to use caution when driving.
There is a report of knee-deep water along Banan Place on Siesta key near the ODA campus.
There are reports that a section of Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach is underwater.
On State Road 64 in Manatee County, FHP is reporting there is water on the westbound side near Bear Bay Road. That's about halfway between I-75 and Zolfo Springs.
Also in Eastern Manatee County, there is standing water on State Road 70 east of Verna Road, forcing a closure. That's about 8.5 miles east of Lorraine Road.
In North Port, some minor street level flooding has begun to occur and the Myakkahatchee Creek and R-36 Canal (which runs east and west along the top border of the City) are near max levels. This will back water up in ditches and onto roadways in the North Port Estates areas west of Sumter Boulevard and the low lying areas south of Interstate 75 along the Creek. Road crews have started to set up high water signs or water on road signs.
In Charlotte County, U.S. 17 is closed due to standing water from Washington Loop Road to the Cleveland subdivision, according to FHP.
At 4:30pm, Charlotte County Emergency Management and local media partner continue to report that numerous roads across the county are covered by water. Some roads within the city of Punta Gorda have become impassible and are closed due to water inundation.
