BRADENTON - As President Obama officially began his second term Monday, we wanted to know what you would like to see accomplished over the next four years. We talked to people at Bradenton's Riverwalk to see what they thought.

In his inaugural address, President Obama called on all of us to act together to address the challenges facing our nation. And working together is something people we talked to say they hope lawmakers can do over the next four years.

“I would like to see him get the parties together. I know that's a wish we all have,” says Palmetto resident Judy McDonald.

“Everyone is so interested in going for their own agenda, and I don't know how it can be done. But we're humans, and we should be able to do this. It's just crazy with all the stuff going on. It's embarrassing.” And when looking ahead, Annette Dyer of Bradenton says she can't help but to look back, and she hopes the president fulfills his promises and creates more jobs. ”I think that's one of the most important things, to get the jobs and people off the streets, the homeless. I've heard so many people say that they had a job, and a home, and then they lost their jobs, they lost their home. It's very sad, and I have two grandbabies -- what's the future for them?”

And what goes hand in hand with jobs? Finances.

Jeff Ottens, visiting from Pennsylvania, says he would like to see some reform in the finance industry. “The biggest thing would be meaningful banking, insurance, and investment reform, and holding companies that don't follow those reforms to the letter of the law.”

But, without cooperation, Bob Lehman of Bradenton says his hopes for the next four years will be far more difficult for President Obama to achieve. “I hope the president continues to promote his very progressive agenda, and I hope that he's able to get the cooperation of the Congress, which has been very resistant over the last 4 years. With cooperation, I think we can achieve a lot in this country.”
