SUNCOAST - As aid continues to pour into the Philippines four weeks after a super typhoon ravaged the country, the Suncoast joins in to help.
You would have had no way of knowing it, but you may be helping those overseas who lost everything. That is because Goodwill Manasota is not just taking clothing donated by Suncoast residents and re-selling them in stores for a profit.
Instead, they're delivering more than 40,000 pounds of clothing, valued at more than $14,000, to the Philippines.
That process took some time, which means anyone who donated clothes to Goodwill locations in Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto or Hardee counties in the past month could be contributing to the Philippines relief.
Workers will load the clothing into a cargo container, which gets put on a ship at the port of Jacksonville. From there, it takes roughly 30 days until it reaches the Philippines.
ABC 7 Reporter Bobeth Yates will bring you more on this tremendous effort.
