SARASOTA – Officials responded to the scene of a minor school bus crash in Sarasota Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly around 3:40pm on Gocio Road just east of Lockwood Ridge Road.

According to Scott Ferguson with Sarasota County Schools, the bus was headed westbound on Gocio Road when it stopped for a mail carrier vehicle.  That's when a Dodge pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old Venice man crashed into the rear of the bus.

The bus was carrying ten students at the time.  One student, a female 1st grader from Fruitville Elementary, was injured but appeared to be okay.  She was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital to get checked out.  The bus driver also went to the hospital, for neck pain.

The driver of the truck did not need any treatment.
