Strong storms developing in Eastern Gulf of Mexico

  • 1

A tornado watch has been lifted for the entire Suncoast, but the threat of severe weather is not over. More storms are already getting organized in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and are moving our way. Some of the storms could be severe.

Round one is over, but more storms will develop late tonight and during the early morning hours on Friday. The cold front will move through the Suncoast during the early morning hours and a strong jet stream overhead will bring the potential for another round of severe weather. These storms will be capable of producing gusty winds, small hail, heavy rain, and isolated tornados.

The rainfall has been great for the area as far as the fire danger is concerned. Rainfall amounts have been anywhere from .50" to nearly 4 inches in North Manatee County. We could see additional rainfall amounts up to an 1 inch.
