SARASOTA - A popular Sarasota Amish restaurant will soon be under new ownership. Troyer's Dutch Heritage is selling to Dutchman Hospitality Group.

The company is also buying the Troyer facility in Bellville, Ohio.

The Sarasota shop on Bahia Vista Street near Beneva Road employs 250 people, who will by law be terminated and then given the option to re-apply.

The only noticeable change for customers will be the name of the business, which will switch from "Troyer's Dutch Heritage" to "Der Dutchman."

The sale should be finalized in April.

@Citizen Cane - I think you are confused. Der Dutchman was located on Bahia Vista just to the west of the current Dutch Heritage restaurant. They tore it down to make the parking lot for Dutch Heritage. The amish restaurant on 41 was called Sugar and Spice. It was torn down to expand Sarasota Memorial Hospital. S&S moved out to Cattleman & Bee Ridge for years, but recently closed.
