Thanks to outstanding community support, Sheriff Tom Knight’s 2nd Annual Corporate SWAT Challenge raised $35,000 for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.
On Saturday, 17 teams from area businesses and civic groups spent the day at Knight Trail Park in Nokomis competing in four tactical events of skill, endurance and strategy. The Corporate SWAT Challenge was designed so participants would have fun in a challenging but team-building atmosphere while raising money for a great cause.
The event was sponsored by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, with support from Jackson & Associates General Contractor, Band Weintraub, the Tillie Jennie & Harold Schwartz Foundation, the Tarr Charitable Family Foundation, the Rubin Charitable Foundation, SunTrust Bank, Gateway Bank, Sarasota Bay Roasting Company, Sarasota Trophy, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Keiser University, Truscapes, Sysco, Gold Coast Eagle Distributing and GNC.
The excitement from the inaugural event was so great that some companies entered multiple teams this year. Daiquiri Deck took first place, with Gold’s Gym in second and Power Air Conditioning in third. Other competing teams included Gulf Coast Builders Exchange, Gecko’s, Venice Area Young Professionals, Mosaic, Sarasota Dental Group, PGT Industries, Tervis Tumbler, Caldwell Trust Company, Suncoast Motorsports, Synovus Bank and UBS Financial Services.
