SARASOTA, Fla. -- Four families are living in temporary housing following a 4-alarm fire at a Sarasota apartment complex Thursday night.
Sarasota County Emergency Services reports it received a call for the fire at Fairway Oaks Condominium Complex, 220 Barlow Avenue, at 8:01 p.m. Firefighters saw visible smoke and flames coming from the roof of the two unit apartment building. The fire was under control by 8:30 p.m.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Four units were affected and the Red Cross was called to assist four families.
One firefighter was transported to the hospital as a precaution due to heat exhaustion.
