SARASOTA, FL -- The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport wants to expand. SRQ officials have already invested a million dollars drawing up plans for a new tower and other facility development.
Officials say the move is part of the airport's efforts to correct safety concerns and modernize the facility. But as the groups makes those changes they also hope to expand their industrial capabilities by developing about 40 acres of land.
"It would allow us to build things like a large maintenance hangar or manufacturing facility that needed access to quick cargo shipments and those types of things," said airport CEO Fredrick Piccolo.
Coming up on ABC 7 at 5:30pm we take a look at the tower expansion efforts and find out what residents think about the move.
