VENICE, FL (WWSB) - Wet conditions on I-75 and a speeding driver caused an accident near the Laurel road exit Friday.
The incident occurred around 12:49 p.m. on I-75 southbound.
Krystie Lanham, 25, of Fort Myers, was travelling southbound on I-75 in the inside lane. A second and third vehicle were also travelling southbound in neighboring lanes.
According to the accident report, Lanham lost control of her vehicle due to wet road conditions and she spun clockwise. Her vehicle then struck the second vehicle and spun counterclockwise.
The direction of her spin caused her to collide with the third vehicle, which caused the vehicle's attached trailer to jackknife.
Vehicle 3's load then separated and fell onto the roadway. All three vehicles came to a stop alongside the highway. The third vehicle's load scattered all over the roadway, obstructing the three southbound lanes.
Due to wet roadway conditions, there were no skid marks observed at the scene.
Lanham suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. None of the other drivers or their passengers suffered injuries.
Lanham was charged with driving too fast for road conditions.
