SARASOTA - The show of support along the Suncoast for the tragedy in Boston continued with the Special Olympic Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Members of the Sarasota Sheriff's Office and Sarasota Police Department took to the streets today to run and raise money for the Special Olympics.
Sheriff's deputies and local Special Olympic athletes started the run at U.S. 41 and Beneva Road around 9 am. Once the runners arrived at Paradise Plaza along South Osprey Avenue, sheriff's deputies passed the torch to Sarasota Police Officers.
Each year, more than 3,000 law enforcement officers carry the torch on a 1500 mile relay through more than 60 Florida counties.
Today's run ended with a celebration at Five Points Park.
