**UPDATE #2** A second countdown Thursday night had to be aborted at 48 seconds.  Engineers say they will try again in a few days.

**UPDATE** The rocket launch has been delayed again.  Engineers say the engines auto-shut down as a safety precaution with 2 seconds remaining in countdown.  Crews are assessing the situation.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - SpaceX is targeted to launch the SES-8 telecommunications satellite aboard a Falcon 9 rocket this Thursday November 28th, at 5:39pm from Cape Canaveral.

The company says that SES-8 will be their first launch to a geostationary transfer orbit – 80,000 km from Earth – and most challenging mission to date.

SpaceX had attempted to launch this same rocket on Monday, but technical issues caused delays, forcing them to scrub the launch until the next window opens.

SES-8 features up to 33 Ku-band transponders and will be co-located with NSS-6 at the orbital location of 95 degrees East to provide growth capacity over Asia-Pacific. The spacecraft’s high performance beams will support the rapidly growing markets in South Asia and Indo-China, as well as provide expansion capacity for DTH, VSAT and government applications.

A webcast will be available at www.spacex.com/webcast. The video transmission of the launch of SES-8 will begin approximately 30 minutes before liftoff.
