SARASOTA - A happy homecoming Thursday for more than 200 Florida soldiers; members from the Florida Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion returned home.

They were greeted by the cheers, smiles and hugs of their families and friends at Dolphin Aviation in Sarasota. These soldiers have spent the last year providing air defense in the National Capitol region.

And now they are home, much to the joy of their loved ones.

“Wonderful…less stress on my shoulders; a burden has been lifted,” said one wife.

“I'm pretty excited because right when he left everything was breaking; I hope we get good luck now,” said a son.

The troops were also honored for their service, with a special ceremony. Most of these soldiers are from the Suncoast, with a few also from Ft. Myers and Daytona Beach.
