BRADENTON - The South Florida Aquarium prepares to celebrate the 65th birthday of it's favorite citizen.  A huge party is planned to celebrate Snooty the Manatee's birthday on Saturday and the public is invited.

Many local environmental agencies will be on hand to teach more about protecting our wild life and natural habitats. There will be games, and activities and entertainment for children and adults. And of course birthday cake.

Snooty was born at the Miami Aquarium July 21, 1948. His mother either died or was released, and ever since his birth Snooty has been raised by humans. He arrived at the South Florida Aquarium in 1949, and he has been here ever  since.

Snooty the manatee - Celebrate
On Saturday, July 20 2013 from 10 am until 2 pm at the South Florida Museum, Bishop Planetarium and Parker Manatee Aquarium, locals will celebrate Snooty's 65th birthday and promote arts & wildlife awareness. The event held in the Spanish Plaza and in front of the museum on 10th Street West is FREE from 10 am to 2 pm for all Snooty's friends and fans. (Reduced admission to the Museum, Planetarium & Aquarium all day.)

He's proved to all who've worked with him that Manatees are much smarter than anyone ever thought. He loves people and when someone comes close, he tries to climb out of his pool to get closer to them.

He is the much-loved mascot of Manatee County. So come out and wish him happy birthday.
