SARASOTA - Police are busy searching for an attempted armed robbery suspect who may be behind more than one crime.

They say around 9pm Monday, a woman approached a 70-year-old man leaving the Barnes & Noble on South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. At first she asked him for a ride, but when he refused she pulled out a gun and demanded he take her to an ATM.

They drove to the SunTrust Bank on Tamiami Trail near Siesta Drive, where she tried to make the man withdraw money from his account. When that didn't work, she took cash from his wallet and ran off.

Sarasota Police investigated another similar incident the same night at the SunTrust branch on Main Street, where a man had pulled up to the ATM with his young son in the car. That’s when police say a woman approached the car with a gun and told the man to empty his account. Instead, the victim drove away.

The victims in each crime gave a similar descriptions of suspect as well: a white female, with dark hair worn in a bun.
