SARASOTA, Fla. - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help name its newest Mounted Patrol horse, a 10-year old American Warm Blood Gelding.

The “horse with no name” is 17.2 hands tall and was donated by Terry and Darlene Geiser of Ocala. Four options are being posted on the agency Facebook page and citizens are invited to vote for their favorite between now and the end of March. Possible names are:

1) Colonel

2) Recruit

3) Pursuit

4) Honor

The horse is already patrolling Siesta Key Beach and other areas of the county for Spring Break alongside his hoofed colleagues.

The winning selection will be announced in April.

You can vote at the sheriff's office's Facebook page.
