MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – In a story of recovery and comeback, the lovable canine who we first met while he was being rescued from Napier’s Animal Sanctuary earlier this year, is recovering nicely.
When the Manatee County Sheriff's Office raided Napier’s and seized some 300 animals, Sheldon had no fur, sores all over his body, and multiple diseases. Now he's in the care of a foster family, and will soon be ready to find his forever home.
"We’re amazed, not so much for what we did, but that he is able to just blossom and show that he can come through and be a wonderful dog, even though he was so mistreated at the beginning of his life; that he has a dog in him and he wants to play and come out and it makes us free really good," says Sheldon’s foster mom Robin Slate.
Dari Oglesby, the Executive Director of Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue, credits Dr. Sorentino and the staff at the Ranch Animal Hospital for nursing Sheldon back to health. "They spent days, hours there, weekends there…caring for him, changing bandages."
