MANTEE COUNTY - Traffic on I-75 was at a standstill after a tanker caught fire.

It happened Wednesday morning in the southbound lanes near Mile Marker 231.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the semi tanker caught fire shortly after 7 am. The driver was able to get out of the truck, and no one was hurt.

Troopers had to close southbound lanes for about a half hour, backing up traffic for miles.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but traffic was slow moving for hours after.

No word yet on what caused the tanker to catch fire.
