SARASOTA, Fla. -- Troopers are still searching for the man they say was driving a vehicle that hit and injured a boy on a bicycle last week.

On May 22nd, a 13-year-old boy was riding a bicycle on S. Lockwood Ridge road when he was struck from behind by an SUV. The vehicle stopped at the scene but the driver fled on foot.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a passenger in the SUV has now identified the driver as Donald Ray Thomas, Jr.

FHP spoke with Thomas over the phone and urged himself to turn himself in, but Thomas hung up.

Thomas is wanted for leaving the scene of a crime with serious bodily injury. If you know the whereabouts of Thomas, you are asked to contact Trooper Hupchick at (239) 938-1800.

The boy was flown to All Children's Hospital with serious injuries. There is no update on his condition.
