SARASOTA, Fla. -- Detectives with the Sarasota County Sheriff's office are looking for a suspect they say shot a man in the driveway of a home on Sunday afternoon at 3:40 p.m.

Authorities say 26-year-old Vincent Williams was working on a vehicle in the driveway of a residence on the 3200 block of Newtown Blvd. in Sarasota when an unknown suspect approached him, and fired several shots from a handgun. Williams suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg, and was taken to the hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a dark-colored mask or shirt over his face. He was also reportedly wearing a long gray/black shirt and black pants. He fled from the area on foot. The sheriff's office says deputies established a perimeter, searched for the suspect in the area, but he was not located.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's criminal investigations section at (941) 861-4900 or Sarasota County Crime Stoppers at (941) 366-TIPS.
