Schools briefly locked down following armed incident in Bradenton

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Three suspects are in custody following an incident in Bradenton that caused a lockdown in at least two schools Tuesday morning.

Lockdowns included Bradenton Christian School and Manatee High School, and were put into effect around 11:15am.  Lockdowns were lifted after about 20 minutes.

According to the Bradenton Police Department, some sort of possible kidnapping or battery incident took place at the Walmart on Cortez Road.  That resulted in a police chase that went north on 43rd Street West.

The chase ended in the 3500 block of 43rd Street, near Bradenton Christian School, where on gunshot was reported fired.

There are no reported injuries, and three people are in custody.
