BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Manatee County School District is set to announce what it plans to do with its financial surplus.
Last school year's budget is expected to close with a surplus of $14.3 million. Based on the district's financial turnaround, Superintendent Rick Mills has set several priorities for surplus spending.
Some of those include more investments in school staffing, resources for K-through-8 classrooms, employee salaries, and armed security in elementary schools.
Superintendent Mills will talk more about his budget priorities at next Tuesday's school board meeting.
