SARASOTA, Fla. -- Detectives have made an arrest in the shooting death of a Sarasota man earlier this month, charging his girlfriend with murder.

Investigators say 25-year-old Karli Wilbanks shot and killed her boyfriend in their Ranchero Drive home in Sarasota on August 4th.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Wilbanks called 911 just before 1:00 p.m. that day, claiming that someone was trying to kill her.

When deputies responded, they found 41-year-old Michael Goodman dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Wilbanks was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for heart issues and spoke with detectives that night before being released while the investigation continued.

Wilbanks told detectives that Goodman said he was going to kill her and quickly moved toward her. She said she fired warning shots and then shot him.

During the investigation, interviews and forensic evidence raised questions that Wilbanks could not explain. Detectives spoke with friends and neighbors who said while Wilbanks told them about physical abuse they never saw any marks on her and never saw Goodman get angry with her. Most friends said that Goodman wanted to take care of Wilbanks and could not fathom him hurting her.

In addition, acquaintances who attended a party at the Ranchero Drive home in May reported that Wilbanks was jealous about a girl at the party and said she would kill Goodman.

Wilbanks was arrested Thursday and booked into the Sarasota County Jail for Second Degree Murder. She is currently being held without bond.

The article says that she complained about being abused and friends say there were no "marks" and he wanted "to take care of her" a sociopath abuser always appear to be great guys to outsiders and often know how to beat the snot out of you without leaving a mark.. I know I have endured these type of "loving awesome" guys in the past. People need to understand that just because there aren't any marks doesn't mean that a woman isn't being abused.... this article ticks me off, especially if the girl reached out for help in the past!!!!!!
