SARASOTA, Fl. (WWSB) - Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight is drawing criticism after using his agency's official Facebook page to support Gov. Rick Scott's U.S. Senate campaign.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office page shared a live video Monday of Scott receiving the endorsement of Sheriff Tom Knight and 54 other Florida sheriffs.

The agency writing on the live video post that Knight was "proud to support Governor Rick Scott in his run for Senate." Critics are now taking aim at the Sheriff for the post.

Mike writes, "This is a post only acceptable on the sheriff's personal FB page."

Bill commenting, " Isn't this the "official" page of the SCSO? What is a political endorsement doing on this page? When did this become legal and/or ethical? Sheriff Knight owes the tax-paying citizens of Sarasota County an apology for using their taxes for political gain! Disgusting!"

Scott is running against Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson. Both Knight and Scott are Republicans.
