Sarasota, FL- Sarasota Police Department SWAT members will be holding active shooter training on Wednesday, August 14th beginning at 8 a.m. at Temple Beth Sholom School at 1050 South Tuttle Avenue, Sarasota.

The training will be held from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.  Training Instructor, Officer Jeff Dunn, in addition to members of SWAT, will be available to talk with the media during the event.

The public and residents in the area should not be alarmed if they hear shouting, loud bangs or noises.  This training is in depth response and training focused on responding to active shooter incidents and coordination of efforts in rescuing victims. 

This type of training is for new law enforcement personnel as well as refresher training for veteran officers.  This specialized training provides education for law enforcement to be ready and prepared to respond to critical incidents if needed.

The Sarasota Police Department will work with the Temple Beth Sholom School to use their buildings as a training site while classes are not in session.

  • 1 Keep it Clean. Please avoid obscene, vulgar, lewd, racist or sexually-oriented language.
  • 2 Don't Threaten or Abuse. Threats of harming another person will not be tolerated. AND PLEASE TURN OFF CAPS LOCK.
  • 3 Be Truthful. Don't knowingly lie about anyone or anything.
  • 4 Be Nice. No racism, sexism or any sort of -ism that is degrading to another person.
  • 5 Be Proactive. Use the 'Report' link on each comment to let us know of abusive posts.
  • 6 Share with Us. We'd love to hear eyewitness accounts, the history behind an article.
