SARASOTA, Fla. - The Sarasota Police Department now has a new way to protect our Sarasota waterways and enforce boating safety. Friday, the SPD invited folks to see their brand new 34-foot Yellowfin center console boat.

The boat was purchased with a generous grant from the West Coast Inland Navigation District. With a top speed of sixty miles an hour, it is designed for rough seas and has significant fuel capacity to go wherever is needed.

“For its ride, for its stability and for its fuel efficiency...we couldn't have found a better boat,” says Officer Bruce King.

He also said the large platform on the boat allows him to lay injured patients down while riding back to shore, so the paramedics can start working on them as soon as they arrive.
