SARASOTA - Sarasota Police are investigating gunshots in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Goodrich Avenue around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers were called to that location by a citizen who lives in the area, when gunfire was heard and several rounds were shot into a nearby home.

Detectives were called to the scene to investigate, but no victims were located. Detectives were told from witnesses that a group of people were on the corner when a red Dodge vehicle drove up. Witnesses stated that the passengers of the Dodge shot several rounds at the group on the corner, and the group shot back at the car. The house that was shot was not targeted, but was caught in the crossfire.

The group of people, as well as the vehicle, fled the scene.

There are no suspects in this case and it appears no one was injured. Detectives are still investigating this incident.

If anyone has information about this shooting or about the suspect vehicle, they are urged to call the Sarasota Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (941) 954-7070 or (941) 366-TIPS.
