SARASOTA, Fla. -- As America gathers around pools and barbecues this weekend, it's important to remember the reason for the Memorial Day holiday -- those brave men and women who gave their lives fighting in the service of this nation.
The Sarasota National Cemetery will play host to a special commemoration of Memorial Day at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 25. The event will feature Manatee County Veteran Services Officer and Marine Corps veteran Lee Washington as the keynote speaker, and will also include music by the Sarasota Military Academy and the Trinity Christian Fellowship Center Choir.
The event is open to the public, but for those who can't make it out, ABC 7 will be providing a live stream of the commemoration on our website, mysuncoast.com. Click here to go to the live-streaming page.
