SARASOTA COUNTY - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that 46-year-old Jeffrey Earl Smith has registered as a Sexual Predator living in Sarasota County.

Smith was convicted for a 1996 case of Sexual Battery Using a Deadly Weapon. He was released from prison, but violated probation numerous times and was sent back to prison in 2012. He was just released and is living at 1732 Central Avenue, Sarasota.

Smith is under Department of Corrections supervision until April 2014. He has no residency restrictions, but has a curfew between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

This information is also being posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office web site and Facebook page as part of an initiative to publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a local address for the first time.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office still recommends that citizens sign up for sex offender alerts from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement by visiting https://floridaoffenderalert.com/ to receive regular notifications of routine registrations and address changes.
