SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Sarasota man was critically injured after a crash on Interstate 75 Tuesday morning, and troopers are looking for the driver who may have caused the crash.

The crash happened shortly after 7am in the northbound lanes of I-75, just north of the Fruitville Road exit (#210).

Troopers say 66-year-old Gregory Lawrence swerved to avoid crashing into a car that had slowed, then lost control. His Saturn began rotating and eventually crashed into a tree.

Lawrence was flown to Blake Medical Center for treatment.

Traffic was slow going while crews cleared the scene, but all lanes are now open.

Troopers are looking for the driver of the other vehicle.  If you witnessed the crash or have knowledge of the silver Chevy Impala or the driver, you are asked to contact FHP at (941) 492-5850 or (239) 938-1800.
