Sarasota man homeless after weekend house fire

SARASOTA - A weekend house fire in Sarasota has left one man homeless.

It happened just before 9pm Saturday at a home on 24th Street between Central and Coconut Avenue in Newtown.

At least two trucks and more than a dozen firefighters from the Sarasota County Fire Department responded.

The resident got out without suffering any serious injuries, but his home is severely damaged.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
