SARASOTA CO., Fla. (WWSB) -- A Sarasota man was found guilty of second degree murder Wednesday.
Rufus Adams, 35, of 1108 Colleton Street in Sarasota, has been found guilty of the January 2016 murder of William Shipp.
On Jan. 15, 2016 at approximately 6 a.m., Sarasota Police officers responded to a gunshot victim at 1524 25th Street in Sarasota. The victim, William Shipp, was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Witnesses told officers there was an argument between Shipp and Adams. Adams told Shipp to leave and when he refused Adams told Shipp he was going to kill him. Adams then shot Shipp multiple times.
Adams’ sentencing is set for early May.
