Sarasota man critical after crashing pick-up into oak tree

SARASOTA COUNTY - A Sarasota man is in critical condition after crashing his pick-up truck into a tree.

It happened Sunday around 11pm at Shadow Oaks Rd. and Shadow Lakes Drive.

30-year-old Gregory Bellan Jr. of Sarasota was driving east on Shadow Oaks Road west of the intersection of Shadow Lakes Drive.

For unknown reasons, he veered to the right off the roadway and collided with a large oak tree.

Bellan was taken to Blake Medical Center in critical condition. He was not wearing a seat belt. His passenger, 36-year-old Melinda Alfaro, suffered only minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
