SARASOTA, Fla. - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 60-year-old Sarasota man for two separate cases of sex crimes against young girls that occurred more than 10 years apart.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, detectives arrested Dennis McGurk this week after victims reported he touched them when they were between 10 and 13 years old.

One victim is now 26 and said the crimes occurred in 1998. She filed a criminal complaint in 2001 but the case was not prosecuted.

When the second victim, who is now 16, came forward last month to report being sexually battered in 2011, detectives located the original case and noted the manner and circumstances in which the victims were touched by McGurk are markedly similar, even though the two have never met and do not know each other.

Both victims described incidents that occurred while sleeping over at McGurk's home on Williamsburg Street in the Gulf Gate Estates neighborhood, saying he would approach them while he thought they were asleep and touched their genitals.

One victim told investigators that McGurk would intentionally expose himself to her while changing clothes, and once ripped the 13-year-old victim's bikini top off in the pool and commented to a friend, "how'd you like that show?"

McGurk is charged with one count of Lewd or Lascivious Battery, and is being held on $200,000 bond, and one count of Sexual Battery on a Child Less than 12 Years Old, for which he is currently being held without bond.
