SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has connected a prolific offender to four burglaries in which thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry and lawn equipment was stolen.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives executed a search warrant at the Indian Mound Street home of 38-year-old Hobert Roberts as part of a burglary investigation.

In June, detectives determined he and another man pawned jewelry stolen from several units at Express Storage on Claxstrauss Drive. They were charged with dealing in stolen property and false pawn at the time while the investigation continued.

While searching Roberts' property Wednesday, detectives noticed a large white utility trailer in his back yard with the rear door open. In it were two riding lawn mowers stolen from a locked storage lot on Palmer Boulevard in July. In a nearby shed they also found several weed eaters, leaf blowers and tree trimming equipment and additional property stolen from the same victim the month before. Detectives also recovered a four-wheeler stolen from a secure fenced Sarasota County Government lot.

Roberts is charged with four counts of Burglary, and one count each of Grand Theft, Grand Theft Auto and Theft. Roberts has a dozen prior arrests in Sarasota County for crimes including burglary, grand theft, domestic battery and aggravated assault.
