SARASOTA - A Florida Highway Patrol trooper under scrutiny for previous arrests is facing another legal battle, after a man arrested for DUI files a lawsuit against him.
According to court documents, a year ago this month, Trooper Melvin Arthur arrested a driver involved in a 3-car crash for DUI. However, the driver passed 2 Breathalyzer tests and a urine test.
Last month, Trooper Arthur was involved in another court case, where artist Sally Adams was fighting charges of DUI and that she resisted arrest.
Testing showed she was not intoxicated during her arrest. She claimed he targeted her because she was female. A jury acquitted her of the charges.
