SARASOTA, Fla. – Rowers from around the nation descended on Nathan Benderson Park today for the 5th Annual Sarasota Invitational Regatta. The two day event started Saturday morning. This year's regatta brought in over 1,000 individual competitors. In addition to rowing clubs throughout Florida the competition included groups from eight states such as Washington, New York, Texas and Indiana.

Organizers were thrilled to showcase Benderson Park as the site of the 2017 World Rowing Championships. Participants in Saturday's race were mainly juniors, but Sunday's event will feature Masters and Adaptive events. The regatta is free and open to the public.
