SARASOTA, Fla. -- Just weeks before the start of the school year, students are mourning the loss of a treasured teacher.
Rona Glasser of Sarasota High School passed away earlier this month. She taught English, Art History, and Literature for almost 20 years.
Family, students, and colleagues packed the auditorium at Sarasota High School last night to remember her.
Glasser's love of art and creativity was on full display to celebrate her work and passion.
"I think I just wept not only for the loss to the community that was losing her, but for the students that would never get to experience her genuine amazingness as a teacher. There are many many of us that are going to miss her dearly and are still impacted from everything we learned from her today."
A painting by Rona Glasser was donated by her family to Sarasota High School. It will hang in the school's main office until the new art gallery is finished, where it will be put on permanent display.
