Sarasota High band to be invited to perform in London

SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota High School's Mighty Sailor Marching Band will be extended a very special invitation Thursday.

Officials from London, England will visit the school to invite the group to play in the London New Year's Day Parade next year.

Organizers from the parade will tour the school Thursday evening, followed by a presentation inviting the band to perform at the big event. The Sailor marching band will then show off their stuff and perform for the delegates.

London's New Year’s Day parade has more than 8,000 performers, and is viewed by tens of millions across the world.

Following Thursday’s visit, the band will have 15 months to practice for the big parade on January 1st, 2015.
