SARASOTA, FL – Police have arrested a Sarasota doctor for practicing medicine after having his license revoked.

On Monday, Sarasota Police executed a search warrant at the Center for Integration in Cosmetic Surgery on Siesta Drive.

According to police, the investigation began after numerous complaints to the Department of Health about 59-year-old Dr. Leonard Rubinstein practicing medicine despite having his medical license revoked.

The Sarasota Police Department Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover operation posing as a potential patient, which resulted in one charge of Attempting or Offering to Practice Medicine with a Revoked License.

As a result of the search warrant, detectives seized numerous medical records and marketing materials that indicated Dr. Rubinstein was presently practicing medicine and there was evidence of illegally obtained controlled substance medication. Several additional charges are expected.

The investigation focused on patients or procedures that Dr. Rubinstein may have seen or performed at his Sarasota office after the date of his license revocation effective December 7, 2012. If any individual who may have been a patient after December 7, 2012 and/or is in need of their medical records, copies can be obtained by contacting Lieutenant James Rieser of the Sarasota Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations at (941) 954-7093.
