Sarasota County to discuss long-term growth plan

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Sarasota County Planning Commission will meet Thursday to consider final changes to the proposed long-term growth 2050 plan.

One possible change to the plan includes developers having to prove fiscal neutrality. That means the project must be financially beneficial to the area, through taxes, fees and assessments that will support the development.

However, developers have criticized the current fiscal neutrality provision and want it changed, giving more flexibility to the developer.

The planning commission will meet at 6:30 at the commission chambers on Ringling Boulevard.

My name is Scott.
