Sarasota County Sheriff's Office recruiting new drivers for Teen Driver Challenge

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is looking for new teen drivers to take part in a new hands-on course.

SCSO staff wants to help new drivers gain experience. The course is offered to students with a valid learners permit, and they must have at least 5 to 6 months of experience driving on the road. Drivers may also have a valid operator's license.

Drivers can receive certification that helps earn insurance policy discounts upon completion of the course.

The Teen Driver Challenges will be held at the North Port Driving Range, 6664 West Price Boulevard, North Port, on Saturday, April 15 and Saturday, May 20. The course starts at 8 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m.
