SARASOTA - If you see smoke coming out of a Sarasota County fire station, there's nothing to worry about.

The firefighters are just getting ready for their big rib cook off on Saturday.

It will be held at Philippi Creek Park from 2 to 5 pm. There will be live music, vendors, and you'll be able to taste the ribs from each fire company and make your own decision about whose ribs are the best.

"Every team is giving 40 pounds of ribs to cook however they would like to do it, and then they give samples to 6 different judges and they rate them on appearance taste and texture basically," says Sarasota County Firefighter Lt. Ron Evans.

The winning fire station gets bragging rights, and all the proceeds from the event go to the Firemen's Benevolent Fund to help firefighters and their families in times of trouble.
